4 Important & Quick Fitness Tips:

Tip #1: What's the number one fitness tip?

Just Move! People are always looking for the secret to a healthy lifestyle, some magic pill…There isn’t one, just get up and do something active. In today’s automated world with the majority of jobs being sedentary a step in the right direction is taking some steps, literally!

Tip #2: Get rid of the excuses.

Most people say, “I don’t have enough time to work out” Whether it be work, kids or just plain stress, if you make time for yourself, just 30 minutes a day you can make a huge difference in your fitness level.

You will feel less stress, perform better at work and maybe enjoy your kids a little bit more. You might say, I don’t have the time.

Look inside yourself and see where you can fit that 30 minutes in during the day. We bet if you totaled the time spent in front of the television each night you could find 30 minutes right there.

Tip #3: Eat more to lose weight. Yes, we said it!

But I don’t mean 3 giant meals a day. I mean graze all day long. 5-6 small meals a day will jump start your metabolism.

Your metabolism is like a wood burning stove, if you keep stoking the fire with food, (quality food) your metabolism will wake up and start to burn calories and fat.

Most of us go too long between meals and by the time we eat make bad decisions in the foods we choose because we are starving. If you eat small meals all day long your blood sugar will stay level. When it drops is when we get in to trouble, our energy wanes and we choose the carbohydrate loaded easy snack foods that pack on the pounds.

Tip #4: Don't skip breakfast.

Your mother was right. Back to the wood burning stove analogy. Let’s say the last thing you eat is dinner at 7pm. The next day you wake up at 6am, get your coffee do your morning routine and head to work. You get to work around 8 or 8:30 but still have not eaten breakfast and finally get something by 9am.

That is around 12-13 hours that you have gone without eating.

The wood burning stove is cold, meaning there is no calorie burning going on and no fat being burned.

Some people actually get up and go work out on an empty stomach and then head to work. Can you imagine doing the most strenuous part of your day on an empty stomach? No energy.

Here is where it gets down right dirty. If you starve yourself but only eat the leanest foods it still doesn’t matter. Your body has the ability to convert protein and carbohydrates into fat. Your body will start storing all this lean fat free food as fat on your body as a defense mechanism. Fat is your long slow burn fuel so if you are not getting enough food in your system your body goes into defense mode for survival. Sound familiar?
