Kristian Jones,
Trainer, Co-Owner
Education Benefits Clients:
holds a B.S. in sports fitness management,
and a M.S. in Exercise Physiology from The University of Alabama.
As a certified National Academy of Sports Medicine trainer,
Kristian comes to Excellence in Exercise with 14 years of hands on experience.
Expereince Producing Results:
This experience and functional knowledge base comes from working in a variety of large and small health clubs, and from direct interpersonal work with individuals.

From beginner to professional athlete,
and from the Southeast and throughout the United States, Kristian Jones is results driven.
Kristian bases his training on a proper kinetic chain assessment that allows for
tailored workouts, maximizing results, both in physical appearance & everyday life activities.

or enjoy the thing s you like to do pain free you
are just spinning your wheels.”
Utilizing both sport and functional training, Kristian blends the two seamlessly into every workout to keep things fun and interesting while educating his clients along the way.

Dorie Downs,
Trainer, Co-Owner
Dorie is the co-owner of Excellence in Exercise which opened in January of 2006.
Prior to that she has worked as a director of programs in multi-use clubs in Denver and Atlanta, owned Flex Appeal personal training studio in Greenville, NC, and trained clients at Physical Structure personal training studio in New York City.
Dorie was certified as a group exercise instructor in 1995 through A.F.A.A. and then began personal training in 1996 after being certified through A.C.E. In 2001 she added her N.A.S.M. personal training certification, in 2003 yoga teacher certification, and 2007 Functional Movement Screening. She holds her BFA in Dance and Theatre Arts from East Carolina University - 1996.
As a mother of two daughters and wife of a marathoner & cyclist, Dorie is often reminded that fitness simply allows you greater enjoyment of your daily life. Never pass up an opportunity to get down on the floor to play, jump on a bike, run a 10K, swing a golf club or take a ski trip. Whatever activities you want to enjoy more, that is where her training will take you.
Jean-Carl(JC) Menelas,

Jean-Carl earned his B.S. degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis on
Fitness and Nutrition from Florida State University.
Experience Produces Results:
- 12 years experience
- Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor
Certified National Academy of Sports Medicine Personal Trainer,
nutrition and speed-power specialist, and kickboxing and CPR certified.
Jean-Carl's Clientele Receives Personalized Programs:
For the professional, collegiate, and the everyday athlete: custom, personalized exercise programs, based on
specific goals, assessed needs, performance fitness testing, exercise prescription, and nutritional analysis.
Having trained and competed in an Ironman Triathlon Jean-Carl knows how hard
it can be to achieve goals that me be thought of as unattainable, but he
strives to help his clients design and improve many aspects of their body,
mind and spirit. He looks forward in helping all the members of The
Excellence in Exercise family who seek to get in shape, gain muscle, lose
weight or just enjoy life become the best individual they want to be.
Michelle graduated from Michigan State University in 2001 with a degree in Kinesiology,
specializing in wellness promotion and nutrition.
While at MSU, Michelle had the opportunity to work as an athletic trainer
for the football and wrestling programs helping to prevent and rehabilitate
the injuries of top athletes.
Since moving to Atlanta Michelle has enjoyed a career as a personal trainer,
receiving certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
She has also worked as a wellness consultant to corporations around the Metro Atlanta area
providing services such as wellness programming and health education.
In addition, she has taught yoga since 2002.
Michelle’s wellness philosophy reflects her yoga practice in that she believes flexibility and
balance are essential in the successful pursuit of well-being and good health.
